Unboxing, setup, and preview: The Eureka Spitfire Tent
In this episode, I'm unboxing, setting up, and previewing the Eureka Spitfire tent. This is an upgrade for me from the Eureka Solitaire, which was more of a bivy/tent and didn't allow room for sitting up inside of it. Also, the Spitfire has a decent vestibule for storing gear, which is a plus. My sons Murphy, Dylan and Jude help out here, and Bob, my Saint Bernard, was along for moral support. Here are the specs from the Eureka Website: Set up is fast and easy with post and grommet corner attachments and clips to attach the tent body to the Spitfire 1 frame. 2 pole hoop tent with vestibule 9 mm DAC Featherlite 7000 series aluminum frame Post and grommet corner attachments make set up of the Spitfire 1 easy Only 2 stakes required to secure Spitfire 1 tent body; clips attach tent body to frame Large side entry door for easy access 4 storm guyouts on fly Sizeable mesh panels provide generous air flow in the Spitfire 1 Poke-out vent in fly with zippered access in mesh roof cloth Inside storage pocket holds essentials Also available in a 2 person model!

Gear Preview: The Golden Bear Sierra 2 Backpacking Tent
I found this little gem at Big 5 Sporting goods here in Utah. It's a 2-person backpacking tent that weighs just 2.5 pounds. You won't believe the deal I got, and I'm really looking forward to putting it to use! UPDATE AUGUST 2017: While testing this tent, I found that failed spectacularly: condensation was bad, it leaked and collapsed on me during a rain storm. The idea is there, but I suggest spending a bit more on the Eureka Spitfire. You get what you pay for, guys. Here is the video showing what happened on an overnighter... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9f6wKzkQuc

Thrift Store Thursday: The Ozark Trails Jr Dome Tent
In this Thrift Store Thursday episode of Utah Outdoor Adventures with Utah Steve, I came across a small tent that I was able to land for $10. It's a quaint little tent and was in almost new condition. The tent is made for kids, but is lightweight and could easily pass for an inexpensive backpacking tent.

Gear Review Wednesday: The Eureka Solitaire Bivy/Tent
In this episode of Utah Outdoor Adventures with Steven Grames, I'm doing an in-field review of the Eureka Solitaire bivy/tent. The segments were filmed on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. It was my first time using it, and here I'll give you some of my first impressions of this awesome and affordable tent. By the way, this is a solo tent that I bought for backpacking, but I shared it with my 6-year-old son, Dylan. It was a tight squeeze!

On Thursday, August 20, 2015, my son, Murphy and I backpacked down the Notch Mountain Trail to Notch Lake, northwest of Bald Mountain in Utah's High Uintas. It was a six-mile out-and back hike (not including some exploring we did while there). We fished, camped, and over all just had a great time in the amazing Uinta Mountains.

Gear Review: The Xersion Packable Down Jacket (RE-UPLOAD)
Okay, I fixed a couple of issues with this video from the first time I uploaded it. The jacket weighs .75 of a pound, not .75 of an ounce. Also, I reffirmed here that this is a true down jacket and is NOT synthetic as one commenter stated. I also provided proof of this. If you're interested in this very warm, very affordable jacket, it has unfortunately been pulled from the JCPenney website and replaced with a synthetic version that also includes a zipper on the front. They no longer carry the down version, but you might be able to find something similar in their clearance section. I hope this clears things up!
