Shenandoah Mountain 100 - 2016

03:20
The 18th Annual Shenandoah Mountain 100 showcased the best trail conditions in the history of the event. Two new trail segments and four massive maintenance efforts made it a dream course. Thanks to the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition, the USFS and the Recreational Trails Program administered by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation for making this possible. HUGE props to Jack Anderson for creating the video and to Cameron Racing for sponsoring the production.
Stokesville Lodge & Campground Aerial View

02:36
This video provides a great view of the Stokesville Lodge and Campground and our neighbor the George Washington National Forest. The mountain to the immediate west is Lookout Mountain. Lookout Mountain Trail runs along this ridge and is a favorite for bicyclists, hikers and runners. The Trail was rehabilitated in 2013 by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition and is now a true gem featuring flowing trail built of rock. The mountains that appear small in the distance include Reddish Knob and Little Bald Knob which tower over the others at over 4,000 ft. Not shown are the great trails, amazing swimming hole under the Iron Bridge nor the fishing lake.

The grant was awared to SVBC by Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation. RTP is a program of the Federal Highway Administration. The money comes from the estimated portion of the gasoline tax that is used in off-highway vehicles.

09:28
Wolf Ridge Trail located in Virginia's George Washington National Forest is part ridden downhill from Lynn Trail in the Shenandoah Mountain 100 bicycle event. It's the 2nd section of trail in the 100 mile event. The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition received permission from the USFS to re-route the bottom half of the trail because it was an unsustainable fall-line alignment. There was no way to keep water from running right down the trail erroding it and dumping the sediment in the streambed below. The work was performed by volunteers of the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition and professional contractors Trail Dynamics. The contract was funded by the Recreational Trail Program (RTP). The grant was awared to SVBC by Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation. RTP is a program of the Federal Highway Administration. The money comes from an estimated portion of the gasoline tax that is used in off-highway vehicles.
