Oracle SQL MERGE Statement

07:52
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-merge-sql/ In this video, we’ll learn what the Oracle MERGE statement does and how you can use it. What is the MERGE statement? It’s a statement that lets you either insert or update data in a table - all in a single statement! It’s helpful if you’re using an ETL (Extract Transform Load) process when creating or updating a data warehouse. It’s also helpful when loading data into your own database if you’re not creating a data warehouse. It allows you to prevent duplicate data and ensure you have up-to-date data in your table. The syntax looks like this: MERGE INTO table_name USING table_name ON (condition) WHEN MATCHED THEN update_clause DELETE where_clause WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN insert_clause [LOG ERRORS log_errors_clause reject_limit integer | unlimited ] In this video, I also show an Oracle SQL MERGE statement example, so watch the video to find out more. For more information on the MERGE statement and how you can use it in your queries, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-merge-sql/

Oracle EMPTY_BLOB Function

01:58
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-lob-functions/ The Oracle EMPTY_BLOB function is used to initialise a LOB column to an empty value. You can use it in an INSERT statement, an UPDATE statement, or with a variable in PL/SQL. The syntax of the EMPTY_BLOB function is: EMPTY_BLOB That’s it - no parameters. Why would you set a BLOB value to empty? It means you have initialised it but not given it a value. It’s good to know this function exists if you ever need to use it. For more information about the Oracle EMPTY_BLOB function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-lob-functions/

How to Resolve Oracle SQL Parent Key Not Found (ORA-02291)

05:49
In this video, we’ll explain what the ORA-02291 “parent key not found” error is, see an example, and look at how to resolve it. This error usually happens when we try to insert data into a table. It looks like this: Error is: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (constraint_name) violated - parent key not found So what does this error mean? It means we’re trying to insert data into a child table, and there is no related record in the parent table. If a foreign key has been set up to enforce this relationship, there needs to be a parent to insert a child that refers to it. Watch the video to see an example of this error as well as how to resolve it. For more information on Oracle SQL, refer to the Database Star website here: https://www.databasestar.com/

Sometimes when adding rows to your database need update-if-exists, insert-if-not-exists logic. Aka an upsert. You could write this as separate update and insert statements. But there is an easier way: Merge! Watch this video for an overview of how merge works. Different Ways to Insert, Update Data in Hive Table

05:34
Different ways to insert , update data into hive table: Insert statement: INSERT statement is used to insert values into hive table from a local unix file, or HDFS file, or the data from another hive table. We can also insert some hard coded values into the hive table, by specifying them directly in the query. Use this statement to insert data from a local unix file into a hive table. LOAD DATA LOCAL INPATH 'local-filepath' OVERWRITE INTO TABLE tablename (for loading from a local file) And this statement to insert data from a HDFS file into a hive table LOAD DATA INPATH 'hdfs-filepath' OVERWRITE INTO TABLE tablename (for loading from a HDFS file) You can use this statement to load data into the table by querying the data from another table: INSERT OVERWRITE TABLE tableName1 SELECT * FROM tableName2; The below INSERT INTO statement can be used to insert few values directly into the table by specifying the data directly in the query. INSERT INTO TABLE students VALUES ('fred flintstone', 35, 1.28), ('barney rubble', 32, 2.32); Update statement: Update statement is used to update certain or all rows of the hive table using certain confitions. Below is the statement used to update certain rows of a table based on certain conditions UPDATE tablename SET column = value WHERE expression; UPDATE table statement is available from hive 0.14 and above

Structured Query Language(SQL) as we all know is the database language by the use of which we can perform certain operations on the existing database and also we can use this language to create a database. SQL uses certain commands like Create, Drop, Insert etc. to carry out the required tasks. These SQL commands are mainly categorized into four categories as discussed below: 1. DDL(Data Definition Language) : DDL or Data Definition Language actually consists of the SQL commands that can be used to define the database schema. It simply deals with descriptions of the database schema and is used to create and modify the structure of database objects in database. Examples of DDL commands:  CREATE – is used to create the database or its objects (like table, index, function, views, store procedure and triggers).  DROP – is used to delete objects from the database.  ALTER-is used to alter the structure of the database.  TRUNCATE–is used to remove all records from a table, including all spaces allocated for the records are removed.  COMMENT –is used to add comments to the data dictionary.  RENAME –is used to rename an object existing in the database. 2. DML(Data Manipulation Language) : The SQL commands that deals with the manipulation of data present in database belong to DML or Data Manipulation Language and this includes most of the SQL statements. Examples of DML:  SELECT – is used to retrieve data from the a database.  INSERT – is used to insert data into a table.  UPDATE – is used to update existing data within a table.  DELETE – is used to delete records from a database table. 3. DCL(Data Control Language) : DCL includes commands such as GRANT and REVOKE which mainly deals with the rights, permissions and other controls of the database system. Examples of DCL commands:  GRANT-gives user’s access privileges to database.  REVOKE-withdraw user’s access privileges given by using the GRANT command. 4. TCL(transaction Control Language) : TCL commands deals with the transaction within the database. Examples of TCL commands:  COMMIT– commits a Transaction.  ROLLBACK– rollbacks a transaction in case of any error occurs.  SAVEPOINT–sets a savepoint within a transaction.  SET TRANSACTION–specify characteristics for the transaction.

SQL SERVER 2017 PART-13: OPEN QUERY

02:46
What is open query? Open query executes pass-through query on the specified linked server. This server is an ole db data source. Syntax: openquery ( linked_server ,'query' ) . Arguments. ‘linked_server’ Is an identifier representing the name of the linked server. ‘query’ is the query string executed in the linked server. The maximum length of the string is 8 kb. Now we will try to understand open query with some examples. login to sql server management studio. Open a query editor. I have previously configured a linked server, name oracle db and created customers table. this select openquery will retrieve all data from customers table. let’s execute it. let’s create an insert open-query to append customer id, customer name and city into the table. Execute it. Run the select query again to view new row. Now create an update query to change city name of customer devid to singapore. customer id of devid is 4. Finally delete using open query. We are going to delete mr. devid from customers table. here is the delete statement. let’s execute it. result is 1 row affected. that means it is deleted. run select statement to check it. excellent; devid is not in result set. he has been deleted. that’s all for today. please subscribe to my channel to stay connected.

How to copy data from one table to another ?- SQl Interview question

05:32
Insert into select ================== The Oracle INSERT INTO SELECTstatement requires the data type of the source and target tables match. If you want to copy all rows from the source table to the target table, you remove the WHERE clause. Otherwise, you can specify which rows from the source table should be copied to the target table.

How to create SQL Manual Backup, Auto schedule Backup & Restore the Backup || SQL Server 2012

15:52
SQL Server 2012 How to create SQL Manual Backup Auto schedule Backup & Restore the Backup ? #SQL_manual_backup #SQL_schedule_backup #SQL_backup_restore Update July 2018 SQL (Structured Query Language) is a standardized programming language used for managing relational databases and performing various operations on the data in them. Initially created in the 1970s, SQL is regularly used by database administrators, as well as by developers writing data integration scripts and data analysts looking to set up and run analytical queries. The uses of SQL include modifying database table and index structures; adding, updating and deleting rows of data; and retrieving subsets of information from within a database for transaction processing and analytics applications. Queries and other SQL operations take the form of commands written as statements-- commonly used SQL statements include select, add, insert, update, delete, create, alter and truncate. SQL became the de facto standard programming language for relational databases after they emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Also known as SQL databases, relational systems comprise a set of tables containing data in rows and columns. Each column in a table corresponds to a category of data -- for example, customer name or address -- while each row contains a data value for the intersecting column. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How to create sql manual backup? SQL stands for Structured Query Language SQL lets you access and manipulate databases SQL became a standard of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in 1986, and of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1987 What Can SQL do? SQL can execute queries against a database SQL can retrieve data from a database SQL can insert records in a database SQL can update records in a database SQL can delete records from a database SQL can create new databases SQL can create new tables in a database SQL can create stored procedures in a database SQL can create views in a database SQL can set permissions on tables, procedures, and views SQL is a Standard - BUT.... Although SQL is an ANSI/ISO standard, there are different versions of the SQL language. However, to be compliant with the ANSI standard, they all support at least the major commands (such as SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, INSERT, WHERE) in a similar manner. Note: Most of the SQL database programs also have their own proprietary extensions in addition to the SQL standard! Using SQL in Your Web Site To build a web site that shows data from a database, you will need: An RDBMS database program (i.e. MS Access, SQL Server, MySQL) To use a server-side scripting language, like PHP or ASP To use SQL to get the data you want To use HTML / CSS to style the page RDBMS RDBMS stands for Relational Database Management System. RDBMS is the basis for SQL, and for all modern database systems such as MS SQL Server, IBM DB2, Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft Access. The data in RDBMS is stored in database objects called tables. A table is a collection of related data entries and it consists of columns and rows. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQL, SQL 2008 R2, SQL 2012, SQL Express, DBMS, DATA BASE, MySQL, SQL Server, ANSI, Oracle, RDBMS, SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, INSERT, WHERE, Backup, Restore backup, Auto backup, schedule backup ========================================= Follow us :- ========== Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/c/techomega Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Tech0mega G+ : https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/112488171096197296099/ =====================================================
