There are 10 key pieces necessary in your wardrobe if you are interested in French style and want that "Parisian chic" look. At least that's what I observed among my people... A French wardrobe is curated to include timeless pieces and pieces that flatter your silhouette. On a scale from 0 to 10, how French are you? :-) Thumbs up if you liked this video! New videos: Wednesday 5pm & Sunday 12pm (Paris/Berlin time). Here is the series on dressing for your specific body type: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9e2viG3AuRML-wHc5hDJN-d7YwrSYLuE And here is my previous video about French style rules: https://youtu.be/gAbV5hJzhL4 Key pieces mentioned: - White shirt - Tailored blazer - Ballerinas or loafers - (Little) black dress - Perfect T-Shirt in several colors - Turtleneck sweater in a cosy fabric - Pair or dark blue jeans - Huge scarf - Purse where everything fits - Back and pointy high heels Take care! Bonjour. What is your opinion of 50+ women wearing hoods? Like on a sweat shirt or a zipper hoodie?
Mia Moorhead (13 days ago)
Thank you again Justine! You are so good at this! I have a question about high quality brands we might find in California. Any recommendations?

Love your vids, but I have just a tiny comment, Justine. " Clear" is not "clair" regarding color. The word you are looking for is "light", or "lighter".

I love your channel . It’s very informative ! Thank you for all your tips.

Super useful and fun video! :D ....question: what about skirts in France? Anything in particular about them there?
Crissy Knox (29 days ago)
I love your last 4 tips! I live by those! I rather spend my money on high quality pieces I love and know will last rather than buying a piece that is cheap, will lose color and shape with in 2 washes

How about a leather jacket? Should it be fitted, or loose & sloppy (like the female property of a Hell's Angels). Should it be black? What are good brands?
Same as in the US. Nothing "French," about it. I have dressed this way for years.

Can you please do something similar but for men? Thank you

Justine, I love your videos. I would love to dress this way. Unfortunately, I am 5'1" with a 41" bust!!! Is there a way that my figure could look any way as elegant as these models do. I try to dress simply, without too much fuss, frills etc. But still not achieving the look. Any ideas would be appreciated . Keep up the good work xx

Excellent Ive got so much clothing. Your channel has made me think more on choice of clothing. I need to go through my wardrobe. Simple but quality is best. Must remember the French style. 👌💯

You hit the nail on the head and I never use soap I have had clothes for over 40 years in good shape I use ammonia very lightly in the wash water and gently washed everything inside out at times I put things in laundry bags so I will not get any rubble from other items in the wash but yes it is possible to have a turtleneck last 45 years if it is purchased well

Although I agree with your chic styling Justine, I get bored having so few colours/ patterns to wear. I like to vary so have many clothes.

Justine Leconte officiel all: buying the classics and quality clothes out of luck of western design products and total poverty. Wearing jackets and blazers and comfortable hills because ALL Soviet women were working AND using public transportation. Every day ,each season . Using accessories to change the look every day . The Dark classic denim and black color were typical . French Lancôme cosmetics were a MUST for all who were trying to look stylish in 70- 80 s . And in Soviet Union we had our own line of good quality perfumes ( RED Moscow ) , or some products from Riga , Latvian republic . Our hairstylists are still the best in the world . We were lucking the cheap junk clothing back then , but people were sawing and crocheting their own clothes , using magazines like Siluette from Estonia and then Burda . Check out some old photos and you will be surprised how elegant RUSSIAN women looked without hardly any access to any western brands and products back then. Actually , when I visit Paris in1997 I felt like I was back in Soviet times , with some slight adjustments ( we did not have that many people from Africa and Asia back in 70-80 , and we did not see so “abnormally” rich looking women on the streets in Chanel ) .
Which part?

Thank for a comprehensive list. My wardrobe is right where it needs to be however I've lost a great deal of weight so some pieces will need to be replaced. Lastly, one piece of clothing you didn't mention was a cardigan.

Find good pair of shoes is a nightmare for me, especially flats.. l have very small (size 32 here in Brazil) and delicate feet, so most of the shoes I try end up hurting me because they don't fit well :/

I think the model at 1:15 that you use sometimes is very bad looking. She looks tired and angry and her body looks awful in clothes and the clothes are simply terrible. It looks sloppy and like they came from a garbage can. Sorry but this is the truth. I am being honest. I love your channel but this model is terrible

Scarfs are fine when it's cold other then that what's the point. They look stupid.
eileenfb1948 (1 month ago)
I look really white and washed out when I wear black or gray. Even navy blue or a denim jacket can have that effect. Do you have suggestions of what colour to wear instead of black?
eileenfb1948 (1 month ago)
You’re right it is a lovely colour. Thank you.

I'm not a fashion expert, but I think a rich chocolate brown looks good on many people. It's warmer than dark blue, or black.

Locate a Goodwill, Salvation Army, or other thrift store, in a more affluent area of your city. The classics, so well made years ago, and hard to find now, end up there, for pennies on the dollar. The nicest things i own now, wool gabardines, coats, have come from those stores, because they just arent made much anymore. Have even found great white blouses, although t shirts are few and far between, esp. white. Best finds: $800 Shamask cut on bias lucious hot pink silk dress, like new. New with tags, Brooks Bros. linen skirt suit. New Pendleton slacks suit- modern design. An Hermes silk scarf, authentic, Longchamp purses, floor length black wool belted Calvin Klein coat. NO RAYON, etc. Amazing stuff.

Dear Justine, I just happened upon your videos and am enjoying them immensely. I wanted to put in my two centimes, as a former professional ballet dancer, I lived in pointe shoes for over three decades and wear a size 41 shoe or in the USA a 9.5, so high heels OUT, pointy toes NO WAY; I should add that I have had four surgeries on my feet, and can no longer wear a loafer(moccasin), a pump or any fully enclosed shoe i.e.: a spectator. My solution has been to wear boots that are half boot/half sandal the back is open as is the toe area(it's very sexy in its own way)the collar/shaft of the boot is about the height of my ankle, so all the cut-outs are like a sexy little dress with cut-outs. I require a stable base so I look for a heel that is a graceful wedge or a squared semi-chunky heel of 2.5" or 6.3 cm if there is a bit of a platform I can wear a 3.25" or 8.25 cm heel. Let's face it nothing gives a woman a more beautiful pitch to the derrière than a high heel. I hope this tip can help other people with foot issues. I have found a few brands of boots(yes I can wear a boot)that work with my high instep and problematic feet: Arche(made in France sold at Nordstrom and a few other places in America, Aquatalia(very fine, well-made boots from Italy also sold at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Donald J. Pliner (made in Italy and Spain). Lest you think I am rich think again, I buy almost all of the above on eBay or other secondary market sites, once you know how the high-end shoes, boots, clothes fit and which styles work for you(there is a little homework involved)you are then able to pay as little as ten to twenty cents on the dollar for the finest footwear. I always keep wood shoe trees in mine or at the very least use tightly packed newspaper not only maintain the shape but to absorb moisture and if they are suede, brush them regularly with an appropriate suede brush.

Having lived in France and Italy, I have to say that the Italians are much more fashionable than the French. Unfortunately, France has lost its chic style and many of my French friends notice this too.

Alexandra Wimmer (2 months ago)
Excellent ! Truly the best choice! ( The chosen photo aren't CONSISTENT WITH your 3RD POINT! (will it go out of fashion??)- Also, these models look everything but chic! i.e. the first blazer ! It might be chic, but in the photo the woman looks (and stands) like a hobo!! The bluejeans + the scarf photos are QUITE okay though. You're probably making these videos with the "américaines" in mind, therefore your choice of photographs. But even so, it wouldn't harm americans to get to see proper chic! So, could you choose some more flattering photographs, instead of "wanna be rockstar" ones?? More like yourself! mwah! :-*

The only thing I don’t have on this list is the heels 🙈 I can’t wear super pointy heels because I have such wide feet. I compromised for a beautiful pair of almond toe stilettos that make my legs look just as long and beautiful.

It sounds like you're describing a type of "capsule wardrobe" to possibly build on or around. I've heard great things about these. Do they have to be basic/primary colors or can patterns be worked in somehow for added interest without looking like a circus clown? A friend told me that with a capsule wardrobe, you really can't express your personality much through patterns. Just wondering...

Dressing for your best fit is so important. Most Americans are not aware that good tayloring is key. I also noticed that French women are very clear on what looks good on them. They don't do fads. It's a classic clean look. God Bless Coco Channel ❤️. Thank you for the excellent tips.

What are your fav brands for classic timeless pieces ?

Hi, Justine! I'm traveling with family from California to Paris for the first time in 2 weeks, but I am SO STRESSED OUT! I have no idea what a lady in her mid 20's wears in Europe in the summer. I'm worried I'll look too American, or not elegant enough, for this beautiful city. I don't even know how hot it gets or if I'll need a rain coat! I am SO happy that I found your channel, thank you SO much for your ideas about fashion! When it comes to the summer time, do you have any suggestions?
ana marah (4 months ago)
I heard that french women don't like to buy a lot of clothing. They have small wordrobe. Only few clothes are there (10 items). They only buy what they need. I also heard that they change their clothes twice a day: one for the day time (usually skirt with a t-shirt) and one for the night time (usually a dress). I wandered if that is true?

Where I live in Texas, mostly everyone dresses so casually. I'm talking yoga pants, t-shirt, hair in a bun.. Sometimes I wish I lived in a place like Europe where dressing up is more common! If I want to dress up here, I feel a tad bit out of place..

I would go brawless and sometimes i do when i wear hoodies or oversized sweaters but im in school and its against dress code to have nipples showing can you do a video on what bras to wear for different shirts, i think that would be a great and very useful video as well xoxo
