If you like this video, please support these film preservation charities: The British Film Institute, https://goo.gl/iwTkD7 The George Eastman Museum, http://eastman.org/donate The Film Foundation, http://www.film-foundation.org/donation My inspiration came from What's the Mashup? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmnSm_d2ll4) but I didn't manage 100! The idea was to do the same for movies from the Golden Age – meaning no title later than 1953 (although there is one at the end.) Oh, and none of these clips was sped up or slowed down. If you like the clips, go buy the movies on DVD! And the song on Google Play or iTunes! And thanks also to IMDB, clipconverter.cc and Nero Video. Turn on subtitles to find out the film names. PS. I write books as well. Here's two very reasonably priced ones about movies: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Light-Affliction-History-Preservation-Restoration-ebook/dp/B00PDTJCZM/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1445792900&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Halliwells-Horizon-Leslie-Halliwell-Guides-ebook/dp/B005CYFWKW/ref=sr_1_1_twi_kin_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1445792934&sr=8-1&keywords=halliwell%27s+horizon

This video is very beautifully put together. I love classic cinema and the talented actors and actresses of the past. Too bad these days all those talents has been replaced with trash.

I've seen thousands of videos on here, and this is the only one so far where I think the person who put it together needs to be paid a lot of money because it's incredible. This is incredible and I'll be looking for others you have done.

Will these images here be the closest that people today get to these 'old movies'? Will they ever watch them in their entirety to appreciate them fully (and and to get a sense of how important they were to people's enchantment with life in an industrialising, physically tough age)? Are we today .... enchanted by the movies? By anything really in the arts and entertainments anymore? Do we still talk about the 'magic' of the movies? And is 'popular music' really a too-old-fashioned a phrase now? Even an offensive one? The bulk of the work that has led to this admittedly very entertaining and top-of-the-range video was done by the featured "actors" for it long ago. The editing stage is a relaxing stage: the work's been done! And one has only to sit back and enjoy the process. But well done anyway!! Young people love classical music even if they don't admit to loving classical music. This is borne out by their love for blockbuster movies that strongly feature classical music. From Star Wars to Indiana Jones to Jurassic Park to Lord Of The Rings, as examples. So it may be that they are not fully conscious of their capacity to enjoy these old movies that would be still a thrill today. (Are they shown on the national TV channels of the world's theocracies today?). The soundtrack is VERY important to today's consumer, just as it was in the olden days. But what have we here? We have a visual track! To accompany the sound. The sound of Uptown Funk. In snippets, mind you! Would people not care to delve into that visual track more? To find out the full story in each movie that is so briefly depicted here? Yes, to buy the album! Why do pop stars make pop videos? Is it not enough just to record the song? They make pop videos in order that the song gets 'carried' by the video. It's no different really than selling a bar of chocolate on TV: the beautiful woman with full lips is there to 'carry' or sell you the product. But the proof of the product is really only in the eating. In the glory days of pop music, of the 1980s, the music video was in fact 'carried' by its accompanying song. The song was still seen as the essential product. Nobody in the 80s said, "Did you see the video for ...?". They said, "I love that track that I saw on MTV the other night." (Pop stars could not be everywhere in the world at once to promote their song: so the pop video was a handy solution. That began in earnest in the 70s. But now the video is what is promoted. The song is now incidental to the video in the internet age). And so it is here. The visual, the video is used here to 'carry' the song. But what a visual we have here! It's a glimpse into a past that set out to enchant the public. Have we forgotten how to be entertained? Do people dream anymore of becoming an entertainer? Or is that a too-old-fashioned a phrase? An offensive one even? Did life just get tougher in the computer, internet, gadget age? Bring back analogue, I say!

In 2019 your talent is less than dick. The big show is all the lights n distractions, fireworks and such. This was when you needed to have huge talent. These entertainers are amazing.

Being that I grew up in the 60's, my parents and grandparents watched a lot of the older movies etc.. I enjoyed watching along with them.. well, most of them.. But I thought this video was well done!! I really enjoyed the song, Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and all of the dancing clips.. I' rate this video a 10!! Great work, to who ever took the time to make it.. Please make some more!!
