Dude, that beginning!! you just sold me a guitar in 50 seconds
alan sturgess (2 months ago)
Marks demo's always set the standard - he doesn't do flash or unnecessary overdrive etc. When he does demo overdive, as here, it's never overdone. Just pure, classy demos of tones played cleanly with lots of class.

So if it's made in China...does it make it a Chender?
jimi jam74 (2 months ago)
No, it's a Fehina
N Stuff Music (7 months ago)
haha good one
Ed Berger (10 months ago)
It don't sound anything like a tele...
Ste Ro (9 months ago)
Ed Berger it doesn't have that much in common with a classic Tele. It's a different kind of beast

I had one of those, great for heavy distortion but they sounded awfully muddy clean
Andrew Smith (1 year ago)
When I first heard the guys voice I thought I had turned on Bob's Burgers.

Is this guitar good for worship music?
superelectic45 (1 year ago)
Sounds great, pity it has so much white plastic showing as it cheapens it.
Michael W (3 months ago)
I bought a black pickguard for mine.... Looks way better..
Jake D (1 year ago)
Got a used one for $150 off with no visible wear at all, plastic still on and everything. Beautiful guitar, plays like a dream.
Will Oliver (1 year ago)
Would this guitar be suitable for a nirvana type tone?
OGbrundle (1 year ago)
Nirvana had a tone? That's a funny joke bud
Jake D (1 year ago)
Will Oliver yes, it sounds great with distortion and still keeps it's tone.
Jorge Bustamante (1 year ago)
Made in China right?
Rock N Roll Weekend (5 months ago)
They are Squire guitars but Fender wanted the logo on these. They are made by Squire.
Dragan M (8 months ago)
Squires are also made in Indonesia. Some so called experts say it's better than the Mexican made guitars and a lot less expensive than the Mexican versions.
Tony F (11 months ago)
WOW I thought Fenders are not made in China  but in either Corona California or Ensenada Mexico. If made in China why isn't a Squier????
Garrison Hilliard (1 year ago)
Good sound... almost as good my Douglas copy... but you payed more. Good playing, though.
David trueslayor (2 years ago)
Comon man play some rock always playin that soft jazz (and don't try to tell me people actually play and listen to jazz thats a myth) no matter what guitar so lets here some valium tones -ahhhhhhhhh!!!!
Daniel Prieto (2 years ago)
Beautiful! I loved the jazzy intro, really musical. Now I NEED one as a mid point between my (surprisingly nice and cheap) Squier '51 and my (beautiful and cumbersome) ES-295. I love the P-90's in a Fender body. Thanks!
joe gigliotti (2 years ago)
tasty chops, great sound.
Cooper Henderson (2 years ago)
+N Stuff Music Thanks for the awesome demos! I'm kind of a newbie to guitars. Between the Modern Player Thinline, and the Modern Player Classic, which is the more versatile instrument. If I want to play Smashing Pumpkins type music (constant switches between crisp, clean, sounds and powerful fuzz) which of these would you recommend? Would you recommend something else in this price range?
mrpwnen (2 years ago)
hey man I have one of these and u can most def get heavy dirt for smashing pumpkins esque tones, wouldn't recommend for metal tho. I played both this and the other MP tele with the 3 pups (if that's the other one ur referring to) and preferred this one much more. it does 3 pup tones really well rather than half assing 6, and the other MP felt kinda "cheap" to me, like not as sturdy I guess. I'm sure its just as strong but just me haha. but as with any guitar, you just got to play them both and decide for yourself

This is a great guitar. I played this in a guitar store and it was amazing. Light, great sound, smooth neck. I want this guitar badly.
My Fingerboard (3 years ago)
Great guitar and nice playing as always!.  Cheers.
Lotus Music (3 years ago)
boring, as usual.

You're supposed to keep clicking 3:16 for a little bit of ambiance.

B.j. Surfdog (4 years ago)
I appreciate your demos.....they don't start of in crunch / overdrive mode as so many others do. I can actually "Hear" the tone of the guitar! thanks.

China? :( noooo why mr fender!! why!?
Dih Lesnock (4 years ago)
Is this better than the Blacktop Tele HH?
EX Nihilo (4 years ago)
meh , these are made over seas , Blacktops are made in Mexico ,  These have P90s (Brighter , hum) semi hollow body(more feedback)  Blacktops have hum-buckers (more output , thicker , meatier tone) and are made in Mexico . Your choice , personally for rock , I would get the blacktop .  In fact , that might be my next buy ! ;)
Kevin Panda (4 years ago)
Is that John C. Reily talking? LOL
David trueslayor (2 years ago)
You must have a distinct accent when starring in a video with your Semi Wood instrument with its neck in your hand peering into the dark crevice of a perfectly sculpted F-Hole, knowing soon that you will be engaged in a 3 way toggle switching that will produce all kinds of funky sounds. Yeah baby !!!
N Stuff Music (3 years ago)
+Kevin Panda Nope.
tessie mcdonell (3 years ago)
LOL  .... my Retina Specialist has the same accent.
langtonart (4 years ago)
NICE… Thanks for the great review.
Thomas Kirby (4 years ago)
Mark, I appreciate your demos but would it kill you to play a chord now and then?
Ronald Kisor (3 years ago)
+Thomas Kirby he definitely did.

would it be good for nirvana and white stripes stuff
Nyserq18 (5 years ago)
Okay thanks! Is lowering the action a thing you did yourself, or had someone else do?
AaronMarcusPayne (5 years ago)
When it came out of the box, the action was a bit high for me. pretty much had it lowered so it feels really good now. planning to do some other upgrades but i do really like this guitar. the more I play it , the more I like it.
Nyserq18 (5 years ago)
Could you expand upon what you mean by setup? I'm relatively new to guitars (playing about a year) and am looking to purchase this guitar. :D
AaronMarcusPayne (5 years ago)
Some people complaining about the neck. It feels really good to me. Had to do a setup on it, But other than that It's sweet! Sounds great don't sleep on this guitar!
Michael O'Neill (6 years ago)
could i play coldplay/alternative style with this?
Harri Blake (6 years ago)
All the thinlines have f holes.
energypathfinder (6 years ago)
I'm learning a lot just watching you play. Great TOUCH and FEEL, not just clacking out a bunch of notes. A poet instead of a typist.
Color of Sound (6 years ago)
Man that thing sounds great.. that playing in the intro really hits the spot. LOVE IT

pee jay (6 years ago)
i´m gonna show this to kids, if i want them to fall asleep!
FonziBeats (6 years ago)
hot doesn't mean good. this one is probably just a little better considering fender has a higher qc than squire. as far as the pickups go, the higher resistance of the coil will drastically cut both the dynamic ranges of the tone and volume. unless you just want to use this with an extremely colored heavy overdrive all time, a more moderate resistance (cooler winding) is the standard optimal rating for versatility.
vegasgrits (6 years ago)
Any chance of a few semi-clean open chords and dirty power chords? I don't want to deprive anyone of their sophisticated noodle-time, but it really would make for a more informative watch...
bigemoney31 (6 years ago)
Any bright tone demonstrations? :\
American Scholar (6 years ago)
The "Modern Player" series is made in China. The made in mexico thinline deluxes are called the "Classic Player" series (I think they used to be part of the '72 Reissue series), and they have Fender Wide Range Humbuckers, not p90s.
Andrew Riggs (6 years ago)
@MrDJeah They are made in Mexico, they are custom and is basically a 1500$ guitar for 800$ because its made in mexico.
N Stuff Music (6 years ago)
@MyBlacksunny They are pretty much your run of the mill P-90's in a high gain situation you will hear some buzz
Guitar72 (6 years ago)
Fender MADE IN CHINA ? No thanks.
Tural (8 months ago)
If Fender decides to put its name on a guitar, they clearly make demands in terms of quality. Of course, there may be small details not on par with American-made Fenders, but I have this guitar, and have played on an American made Tele - playability-wise, no big difference. I love playing this guitar.
Prince of Peace (1 year ago)
Chris.72Guitar im new to guitars n shit, why is it bad that its made in china?
CookieDee11 (6 years ago)
1actionkamen (6 years ago)
is it as good as squier custom 2 p90? from what i can hear the pups are not as hot, are they?
Woooooooooow (6 years ago)
With the P-90 style pickups, do you have any problems with buzzing? I've noticed that on other P-90 pickups and I'm wondering if its the same on here
N Stuff Music (6 years ago)
@MrDJeah They are made in China.
Kid0fThePast (6 years ago)

@NstuffMusic can you do a demo on the dark brown one?
Clay Buhler (6 years ago)
Jason Segel?!?
AkiraTheWhiteFury W (6 years ago)
Phenominal guitar player. Any way we can get some demo's that show a more aggressive style? Rock, Hard Blues, etc? Thanks though. You guys do great demos, but I'm always left wondering about the less chill side of the instruments.
where is this made?
Psykel (6 years ago)
I'm totally in love with P90's. They got the fat, gritty tone of humbuckers and the clear, punchy tone of single coils, all in one awesome package. Also, they're great for people who (like me) want to be "special" and play something that's not the standard Les Paul or Strat. My main guitar is a Gibson SG Special 60s Tribute and it sounds frikken' amazing through a ProCo Rat.
N Stuff Music (6 years ago)

Alvaro Castillo (6 years ago)

DreamSurfer21 (6 years ago)
love this guitar. but does anyone know why it is shown with a PERLOID pickguard on shopping websites?? ive only seen them with parchment pickguards in real life. are they just teasing us with the perloid photos?... it looks way better that way. whats up with that?
N Stuff Music (6 years ago)
@Zarathustra3M When we get one in we will...thanks for watching!
N Stuff Music (6 years ago)
@5econd We should be getting one in very shortly, as soon as it hits the floor we will do a demo. Thanks PNS
N Stuff Music (6 years ago)
@Zarathustra3M We will do a demo as soon as we get one in. Thanks for your patience.
spngrm (6 years ago)
Sounds like that tone knob is rolled back a bit too much for my taste. Still, nice tele sound. Just out of curiosity, how much does this guitar weigh?
Michael Wilson (6 years ago)
Whats not to like for $450.00. Nice!!
TweedCadillac (6 years ago)
Can't go wrong with P90's

5econd (7 years ago)
PLEASE DO A VIDEO OF THE MODERN PLAYER TELE PLUS! There is one video up and its not very good. You guys do great videos and I'd love to see that guitar's versatility as well as its tele twang!
Iago B (7 years ago)
@Aleromero77 The Modern Player series is made in China.
Lennart N (7 years ago)
Ticks all the boxes: f-hole, P90s and dual vol/tone.
Iago B (7 years ago)
Great it isn't an American model - it would cost 1,800US and I doubt it would sound much better...
Derek Heidemann (7 years ago)
I take that back.. it sounds amazing. Love those p90s!!
Derek Heidemann (7 years ago)
Too bad this isn't an American model. What a beauty...
