Is there any easy and safe way to get rid of a wrinkle in a 100% polyester down fill coat without washing the coat? I've tried ironing with a cotton cloth in between but it's still there.

can you do multiple jackets in one wash?

I had to come back and give an update. After I wrote the previous comment, I did a little research online and found out how to get the clumpy down back to its fluffy self. So, I immediately took the down jacket back to the laundry mat and SUCCESS!! THE DOWN JACKET IS BACK TO IT'S LOVELY FLUFFY SELF!! All it took was 8 dryer balls ( I have a bunch cause I use them instead of fabric softener), dryer on low of course, $5 worth of quarters and stopping the dryer periodically to pull the clumped down apart from itself inside the coat. Walla!! Perfection!! I felt terrible about messing up that jacket. I refused to give up on it. Not to mention the fact that it was my husbands jacket! LOL! I felt so bad when I had to tell him that his jacket was as flat as a piece of paper. I was so happy as I watched that jacket return to it's soft, warm puffiness! When I returned home with the jacket, hubby said "I wasn't worried, I knew you would fix it." What a sugar-bump!! LOL! Oh yeah, congrats on the baby! I gave birth to two of my own and they are now 37 and 30-- boys! Thanks for your video and tips. God Bless!

I just ruined a down blend jacket this morning in the laundry mat. Washed it using Gain original, used cold water but didn't use the gentle cycle. It came out of the washer flat as hell and all the down was in clumps. Put in the dryer on low with laundry balls and it didn't fluff out the down. That jacket is ruined. Thank God only $20 was paid for it on sale at Modells. Who know's maybe it was some cheap down mixed with cheap feathers or something. I still feel bad though. I had no idea until I watched this video that it should take an hour or an hour and a half to dry the down. It's hanging in the bathroom with those clumps of down/feathers wet and in spots :-( No more down purchases in this house. I'll stick to fleece and other warm washables and wool for dry cleaning. Besides, the damn feathers are forever poking out of the sleeves. Also, there is something unsettling about wearing those poor animals feathers. :-(

Congrats on becoming a mother rasied three myself, and ran both an in home daycare and my own cleaning business as well as doing both jobs employed by larger companies. I have say I really love ur vids , except one thing one of my hugh pet peeves is when you- tubers ask people to like this video and subscribe. We know these are opitions and if someone wants to they will , well sometimes. Honestly even though your videos are pretty great so I did both liked it and subscribed. Normally I won't because will frankly please like and subscribe sounds like: please vote for me, please love, please be my friend etc. etc. Your vids are awesome you have no need to sound like that. (begging) or (needy ) etc. And people dont need reminders .Sorry iI don't mean to be negative. or rude sounding, if I am I'm truly sorry. But its just that li your vids are good but without that little annoying detail they'd be great.

i love my down jacket!  I've had it over 25 years and it has served me well :)  I bought it when I lived in northern Minnesota..but then moved to Tennessee not long after... so, it does not get used in the Winter but once or twice...but still, its like a warm hug every time I put it on :)  it hasn't been washed in quite a while.. thanks for the video on how to do this.  Much needed!!!

My jacket wasn't super expensive but it wasn't cheap. Unfortunately after two seasons it has holes and I've already had to replace the zipper. I'm very dissappointed. Next Winter I need to buy another jacket.

Hi Melissa congratulations. I came across your channel a few years back and your amazing. I was wondering if you have any tips on cleaning your make-up tools and products. Thanks so much x

Hi Melissa Maker, I just wanted to say I was wondering about the washer detergent and the dry balls. I also was wondering what happened to your goal because you failed it; You said, “That you were going to wear the down winter jacket (Canada Goose, Parka, or otherwise) Coat for (20) Twenty years but then you said, “You couldn’t even zip it up any more”; Meaning that you can’t fit in it to zipper it up; You out grew it already. That cool; But now you already need a new one though which defeats the Purpose of your goal. I was wanting to learn more about this subject about winter down jacket coats. That would be awesome & amazing. I love them too like you and I love seeing people wear them I need to get one for me but I run so hot it has to be like o degrees for me. I loved your video so thank you so much for it.!!!! 😊 😉

I live in Alabama, so our winters are usually mild. I can get away with a polyester filled ski jacket on cold days. I'm also cruelty-free, so that was something I kept in mind when looking for a jacket.

How do you clean a wool jacket?
neweverymorning Mercy (7 months ago)
I love my down fill jacket. I've had it for about 8 years now and it's starting to show some wear but I wear it all winter long for the most part. It's a lighter weight one, which I like because it's plenty warm and yet not too hot. I've always washed it on gentle and laid it flat, outside on a drying rack, on a sunny day and rotate it, kind of a pain but it's done okay. But I'm going to take your advise for the dryer, I was always afraid to put it in the dryer.

more and more I appreciate more conscientious purchases - spending more for something of a better quality that lasts much longer. Its easy to buy many cheap items because they are a bargain, but then you have more "stuff" cluttering up the place, and the quality isn't great. My only frustration is when I spend a lot thinking I am getting a quality item and it turns out to not be as good as I was expecting. Then I feel scammed. haha!
duckpondwithoutducks (7 months ago)
Oh yeah, down is worth the investment. They keep you warm like nothing else!
Cathy Dunfee (7 months ago)
Thanks for the video, very informative. At the time of the purchase I questioned spending so much, but after several years and harsh winters, it’s totally worth it.

Have you any tipps on how to clean coats made with polyamid, polyester, whool and Acrylics? The label says do not wash, do Not dry. Its a light colored coat. And it definitly needs some sort of cleaninig after half the Season past by.

I've had mine for about 15 years now. They are so long (kinda like a sleeping bag size) that rather than trying to wash them myself, I've taken them to a pro once a year. The coat was really cheap because it was on sale, but I still think paying for the cleaners have been a justified investment. I love my coat - it keeps me warm without layering. That's just super important to me.

Invested in a down filled jacket before I immigrated to Ireland but hasn't been all that great.... perhaps we should waited to get to Ireland before investing instead of buying in South Africa. Saving up for a new jacket for next winter.
yanammm (7 months ago)
How can I freshen up the jacket if it smells like smoke or sweat...? Thanks!
Clean My Space (7 months ago)
Try running it through the dryer on fulff/air only with some dryer balls.
Pancho (7 months ago)
It's worth buying when living in an area with heavy ,cold winters otherwise no need. Btw i own one but it's a cheap one not an expensive one so i wash mine in the washing machine according to the washing label of the jacket ,however i don't have a dryer i dry my clothes outside and same goes for the jacket just the nature makes it's job lol fresh breeze and sun :)

I first made the investment when in was 16(well my mother did) I had that jacket for almost 20 years it was amazing and sooo warm perfect for -30. I bought 2 downfilled last year and long one and a short riding one. My long one I regret buying in a lighter blue as with children I seem to have developed some grease stains? I'm scared to try to remove and think the $50 dry cleaning bill will be in order. Spool worth the investment though there isn't anything warmer for our climate

Living in the Midwest, Winters are fierce. And having a down coat makes sense for most people, but my peacoat is actually very warm. I just sometimes wish it has a hood. Anyone know where to get a good fashionable cotton hat?

I really appreciate you sharing this video, it was very helpful. As someone who lived in central Ontario and then relocated to northern Ontario (a sub-arctic climate) down filled was the only way to go. The alternatives (and I did a lot of research) were simply not rated to withstand the cold temperatures we get here (we had -51degrees Celsius in December!). I understand that there are people who take issue with the topic, and knowing that, you chose to share this information with us anyways. Thanks again!

Yes!! I have a down filled jacket!!! Warmest thing ever in our Canadian enviornment!! I wash mine in gentle, cold, with non sudsing detergent. Dry in gentle heat. Comes out awesome! And my jacket is winter white so I clean it once a month. No worries, it turns out awesome with no funky smell!!!

This is great! Now I need a video on cleaning my UGGS
alejandritta09 (7 months ago)
You can also go to the official ugg webpage, they explain to you how to do it, you need to buy the ugg cleaning kit tho, I did that and it went great. I was so afraid of cleaning them, especially because mine are chestnut colour and any water stains will ruin them, but nothing happens. they are expensive and need a better care, I never used them on snow or when is rainy out there, they are not for that kind of weather.

What if you don't have a tumble dryer?
mi2092 (7 months ago)
I’ve tried but it takes forever to dry and it’s not as fluffy unless you take a tennis racket and beat the crap out of it after it drys completely.
Anoia Doe (7 months ago)
You don't need one. Just hang to dry, but make sure to shake the jacket after a day or so of drying, and shake again after it's completely dry.
